Harvest Time

The sun is shining and the weather is sweet.  The air is filled with sweet sticky aromas from the millions of apples and pears that are harvested now. All roads are filled with tractors pulling their heavy loads of sun ripe fruit destined to northern Europe. Of course they are slowing the traffic down a bit. But who am I to complain. And the rest are on holiday and have all the time in the world.

It is a tedious work and all the fruit need to be harvested more or less a the same time. A group of men and women are picking and the tractors collects the picked fruit and takes them to a waitin truck or another tractor. You hear the pickers happy words echoing over the valley. Very often they play music or sing. In fact it is a very joyful time.
